I’ve been suicidal, I’ve dealt with self injury for over 10 years of my life. I’ve was bullied growing up. I still don’t have a a lot of self esteem. I’m still trying to figure out this whole life thing. By doing this, I’ve come up with a list of books that have fundamentally gotten me out of weird funks I’ve been in. Each of these books are books I’ve read multiple times. Some I’ve read more than 10 times. There is one where any time I go on vacation I read it. Doesn’t matter how long we are on vacation. Even if it’s a weekend trip, I must finish the book before we get home.
1) The Alchemist.
This book is the one I read on vacation. Anywhere we go, I always run into someone who loves this book. I bought it a long time ago and tried to read it once, but wasn’t into the story. Then I picked it up a month later and didn’t put it down. I read the whole book in one sitting.
2) 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership
I wouldn’t call myself a leader, not in the traditional sense of the word. I don’t lead a team at work. We barely have a team. It’s 6 of us. We are the team. I do lead in other areas, and leadership doesn’t have to just be in the professional world. I feel like we all lead our own small tribe. This is a great book if you want to increase your impact and learn more about what it really takes to be a leader.
This book changed the way I think about business. This book goes into how small everything is. The internet has fundamentally changed the way we look at business and the power of a small group of people. The internet has shrunk this world down and it’s our responsibility to find our tribe and the people who are choosing the be led.
